Steps
- Register as an employer with the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and get an employer number.
- Each worker needs their own NIS number and TRN.
- Deduct NIS, NHT and Education Tax from pay, add the employer portions, and file the S01 monthly return and S02 annual return with TAJ.
- HEART/NSTA Trust contribution (3% of payroll) applies to employers over the wage threshold.
Tips
- A payroll tool that produces the S01 saves hours each month — the Chamber can point you to member providers.
- Keep payslips; workers need them for NHT benefits and loans.
