Trading under any name other than your own requires registration with the Companies Office.

Steps
- Search the name on the COJ website to confirm it is free.
- Complete the Business Name Registration form (BN1) — paper or online via the COJ portal.
- Attach your TRN and valid ID.
- Pay the fee; certificate is issued on approval.
Renewal
Business name registrations run for 3 years and must be renewed before expiry.
